Sessiz sinema anlayışıyla yaratılmış komik kahramanımız Bean, Laurel ile Hardy ikilisine benziyor ama yüz ve mimik kullanımı daha sonraki döneme, Jerry Lewis ile Jim Carrey’ye denk düşüyor. Bir Sanat Galerisi’nde çalışan İngiliz centilmeni Bean, kendinden kurtulmak isteyen patronlarının gayretiyle ‘önemli’ bir görev üstleniyor ve ABD yolculuğuna çıkıyor.
